Another losing season for the Rutgers University Men's Basketball team. Fans have been calling for coach Fred Hill Jr. to be fired.
However, it's not all bad news for the Scarlet Knights. A pair of players have received end of year awards this year. Freshman Dane Miller was one of two unanimous selections to this years Big East All-Rookie Team. This is the second year in a row a Rutgers player has been named to the All-Rookie team.
Miller, a forward for Rutgers, averaged 11.9 points per game this season. He also averaged 6.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals, 2.6 assists, and 1.2 blocks in league games.
The lone senior on Rutgers roster also received an honor this weekend. Hamady Ndiaye was named Big East Defensive Player of the Year. The 7 foot tall center who came to Rutgers from Senegal is currently third in the country in total blocks and blocks per game.
Ndiaye needs just five more blocks to become Rutgers all-time leader in that category. He has the ability to change games on the defensive side of the ball. The senior has become so good defensively that the potential for him to play professional basketball has grown immensely of late.
Congratulations to these two Rutgers Scarlet Knight men's basketball players on their recent honors.
